This past Saturday, October 3rd, we went to the Desfile mariano of New York in company of the Virgen de Chapi from Arequipa-Peru and I was proudly presented with the highest honor a person could have, to represent one's native country.

The Archibishop of New York and five other representatives from Ecuador, Colombia and Mexico had the privilege of cutting the ribbon to beggin the ceremony. We walked from the 78th street to the 107th Street in amsterdam Avenue. We had the support of the local people as well as the protection of the NYPD. We could enjoy the carrosas from different virgins from latin america; Ecuador, Mexico, Brasil, Honduras, Peru and so many others.

The weather was favorable for a good walk until 5 pm when it started pouring but that didn't stop us because the band kept on playing, the croud was happy to see the virgin who was representing them in this occassion. Hispanic Parade of Bergenline 2009

To keep sharing with all of our readers this wonderful weekend, I have to tell you that on Sunday October 4th I was proudly leading the Peruvian carrosa (float) in the Hispanic Parade of Bergenline 2009. different countries met at the 80th Street and Bergenline Avenue to start mounting the speakers, flags and all the pertinient accessories. It started around 3 pm and we walked from the 87th Street to 43rd and Bergenline, we could see that the Hispanic community is growing in Hudson county, people yielling their country waving their flags when they see their carrosa, The media was there as well wheather on paper or online magazines were covering the event. I would like to mention that Mr. Brian P.
